Wondering what to get for the nerd(s) in your life? Or what to buy with the gift cards you receive as holiday presents? Well, look no further, because we’ve compiled a massive list covering 13 different popular fandoms!
(By the way, “nerd” isn’t a dirty word—it means an avid fan. We’re proud nerds, and not just the bookish kind. We’re into most of the fandoms listed below!)
For every book we release, we typically feature an interview with one of its major characters. This week we were going to sit down and chat with someone from Sand to Glass by Remy Apepp, but something . . . a bit unusual happened. Read below to find out what it was!
Let me chat about my serial novel The Midnight Files, because it perfectly demonstrates one method of getting ideas. (And how you can get them, too.)
But let me go back and explain.
Last November (2020), I decided to do National Novel Writing Month. Only, instead of a novel, I would get myself out of my writing slump by writing short stories to prompts. My prompts went like this: each day, I would go to the alphabetically next part of my bookcase and look at the first three authors. The first book I owned by each author was my prompt; the author’s name of the third book was the name of my character:
We're excited to announce that our Redbubble shop is open - and it is full of lovely designs that come on a variety of products from stickers to shirts to mugs to mouse pads, tote bags, and more!
We officially launched the store on September 1st, which Harry Potter fans will know is the day that Hogwarts students go back to school. Our favorite design so far is Never Interrupt a Reading Dragon (shown above on the far left; find it here) - which would be Thinklings' version* of Hogwarts' motto!
For every book we release, we'll feature an interview with one of its major characters. This week we sat down to chat with Princess Pleasance from The Merry Band. (Well, she was supposed to have been with the Merry Band. . . .) Read below to see what the poor kidnapped Royal had to say.
From time to time, we'll feature book recommendation lists here in our blog. Many thanks to Catherine Butzen for providing this awesome list! Take it away, Catherine. . . .
The Thinklings brain trust asked me to weigh in on the topic of book recommendations. This was a problem. Like most writers, I’m a voracious reader who will talk you to death if you give me half a chance!
However, if I talk my publishers to death, Shades of Immortality will never get its next installment. So once I’d calmed down, I managed to get a list together of a few favorites.
Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Many people aren’t sure what this holiday is all about, so here’s a link to a great article explaining what Cinco de Mayo celebrates.
What we’re here for today is not tacos and cerveza but BOOKS, of course! (Although we might just be eating tacos for dinner....) We compiled a list of ten awesome sci-fi and fantasy books by Mexican and Latinx authors.
This blog post first appeared in Katherine Vick's website and is used with permission.
I firmly believe there is a book out there for everyone.
The problem is finding it.
Happy St. Patty’s Day, and luck o’ the Irish to ye! (You bet I'm wearing green today, as I'm not fond of getting pinched. ;)
Thinking of shenanigans and malarkey . . . It’s been a while since we’ve done a fun blog post related to one or more of our novels, such as a character interview, so we thought it was high time to have some fun with our books here again!
So now it has come to this. You have striven all year, scraping and saving your money, laboring to feed yourself and your family, to heat your house and bring what creature comforts you can into your existence. You had thought to put it off, but time has a way of marching forward inexorably. January 1st has passed, followed by January 31st, and beyond that--
Beyond that, April 15th.
