It's almost Valentine's Day, and we're feeling the love! As a token of our love for all our fans, followers, family, and friends (and that was to show our love for alliteration!) we've put our most romantic book on sale. From now through February 17th, the e-book of Painter of the Dead is only 99 cents! This tantalizing paranormal romance brings ancient Egypt to life in modern-day Chicago. Painter of the Dead is hailed as "a fun adventure that’s full of history, ancient Egyptian magic, and a love story that defies age and time. Two awkward souls, both trying to live their best lives, collide in this fast-paced read" (Lorelai Kuhn). Here's the book's summary: When the Egyptology department needs funds to offset a recent spate of museum thefts, Theodora Speer grudgingly trades her painting smock for an evening gown. Charming donors isn’t usually her idea of a good time—but then, she doesn't usually get to meet handsome and mysterious men like Seth Adler. Seth Adler is desperate to get close to a very specific Egyptian mummy, and attending a fundraising gala seems just the ticket. He doesn’t expect to meet Theo, refreshing in her honesty and intriguing him against his will . . . and he definitely doesn't expect her to interfere with his plans. Frantic to escape before the police catch up, Seth kills himself in front of Theo. Except it turns out he’s not so dead after all, and it’s up to Theo to keep him that way. Even if it means fleeing the police, practicing ancient Egyptian magic, and confronting the real thief. We also wanted to take a moment to say another big THANK YOU <3 to all of our wonderful followers, reviewers, bloggers, and other contacts. Thinklings wouldn't be here without your support, and we greatly appreciate everyone who's shared our posts and/or given us kind words, encouragement, advice, feedback, and of course sales and reviews. That last item is what authors really need the most, in order for their books to be visible to buyers on Amazon. If you've already read Painter and loved it, please consider leaving it a rating or a review; here's a direct link to its Amazon review form to make things easier. If you'd like to join our team of reviewers and receive free e-books from us, check out this page; or navigate there using the menu at the top of our site, and under Readers' Nook, select Become a Reviewer. It takes a village. That's why we formed our company in the first place: being an indie author can be a lonely, discouraging journey. But when we join together as a team, we get plugged in better to that life source we call community. The Inklings knew the importance of it, and I (Sarah) would never have finished my own book without the encouragement I got from my writers' group. (Which includes my fantastic editor, Deborah.) Thinklings authors also unite under the banner of quality. It's time for the publishing industry to reinstate quality of writing as the top criterion for what books get chosen for the market, rather than favoring authors who already have huge social media platforms, or who recycle the same old tropes. We believe writers are writers, not marketers. And writers should be allowed to write what they want to write, not be forced to fit their work into someone else's box in order to have a chance at selling it. If more new, original ideas were allowed to enter the market, our literary canon would be a much better, more diverse collection. Ahem. *gets down from soapbox* ;) <3 We hope you're staying safe (and warm, if you live up north like we do!), and don't forget that when you give someone the gift of books, you're really giving them wonderful new worlds to explore!
