For every book we release, we'll be sure to post a review of it during the week before the book comes out. If you would like to be able to provide book reviews for Thinklings, please send an email to [email protected]. Our next book, The Land of the Purple Ring by Deborah J. Natelson, comes out on May 5th. This review comes from Rheanna George, of The Word Coach.

As a teenager, I lived about two-and-a-half hours south of my grandmother. I’d drive up about every two weeks to stay the weekend, and whenever I did, I visited Borders. (At that time, my town had only a Barnes and Noble.) I almost always bought a book when I went. Sometimes, I bought one I knew I wanted; other times, I bought one that turned out bad—or mediocre. There is only one book I remember turning out fabulous.
The first question I ask a writer I’m working with is “Who are your writing inspirations?" The second is "Whose book(s) are you reading now?”
I get inspiration from many different authors and always have a stack of at least three books I’m currently reading. I have inspirations for style, content, character development, action scenes, suspense building . . . and I try to read from pretty much every genre and topic out there. I’m a writer, so I need to immerse myself in writing. And I expect this from other writers. Dear readers,
We hope you are surviving The COVID and The Quarantine just fine! We know that all this time inside and with our families can be trying for both introverts and extroverts. Even the Thinklings staff members who’ve always worked from home have had to deal with the upheaval. Jeannie’s learning how to homeschool, Sarah has moved her weekly lunch dates with her best friend (her mom) to online or phone interactions, Ali’s husband is home all the time, Christopher Light's neighbors' children are running wild, Deborah’s quarantine negotiations with her roommates have stalled, and Gene (our extreme extrovert) has started hallucinating parties. Every time we release a book, we’ll post an interview with its author during the month before the book is published. Our next novel, The Land of the Purple Ring, comes out on May 5th. "Lotpur," as we affectionately call it for short, is a wonderfully imaginative adventure story like no other, and we are interviewing the mastermind behind it: Deborah Natelson, our inimitable CEO.

Our review comes from Kerry C. Nicholls.
