For every book we release, we’ll feature an interview with one or two of its major characters. This week we sat down to chat with Flirt the Interchangeable Barmaid and Shoulders, a Disposable, from our next book, The Narrative, which comes out November 15th. Let’s see what these two “little guy” rebels had to say. Thinklings: So, how’s your quest going, currently? Shoulders: *offers a long, hard stare and holds up his severed head* Are you serious? Flirt: *rolls her eyes* You had to ask, didn’t you? I think it’s fair to say it could be going better. But we’re doing okay, in spite of everything. It could also be a lot worse, couldn’t it? Shoulders: How? Flirt: *glares* You know how. Given what we overheard, you want to tempt fate? *Shoulders grumbles but shuts up* What do you suppose Fodder is up to since you all got split up? Flirt: Hopefully he’s doing a lot better than we are! Driving the Merry Band nuts without us. And good luck to him. Shoulders: Bet he’s still got his head too. . . . How do you think Dullard is handling Pleasance? Shoulders: If he’s got any sense, with a ten-foot barge pole. But we both know he hasn’t. Stupid idiot actually seems to like her. No taste, that man. I mean, seriously, no taste. Flirt: Says the man whose taste buds are currently separated from the rest of him. Give due credit to Dullard; Pleasance has been much less . . . Pleasance-y with him around. And I’m pretty sure she likes him too, however hard she’s fighting it! What’s the absolute worst thing that has happened to you in this part of your quest? Shoulders: Card game. Enough said. Flirt: When have you ever said enough? Shoulders: *sniffs* I was ritually humiliated. I don’t want to discuss it. Flirt: That’s a first, isn’t it? Though to be fair, that particular incident wasn’t my idea of fun either. Bloody Barbarians . . . Have you changed your mind about the Taskmaster at all, or about any aspect of life in the Realm? Flirt: *looks thoughtful* Let’s just say that while I still agree with Fodder that something needs to be done, I do think we might need to have more consideration for the practicalities. I’m not sure this whole thing is that straightforward, is it? Shoulders: What part of this whole mess has been straightforward? If your quest succeeds, and you’re allowed to have any role or vocation you want, what will you choose to do? Shoulders: Not having my head chopped off. Beyond that, I don’t give a rat’s arse! Flirt: Chop other people’s heads off. *fields glare from Shoulders* But only if they don’t mind, all right? Thanks, you two! We’re all rooting for you and your friends to change the unfair situation in the Realm! The Narrative is perfect for fans of Terry Pratchett and Christopher Moore. The e-book is available for preorder now, and the e-book and the paperback will both be out on November 15th.
